ARE YOU A CONFLICT SOLVER?

Check off the items that apply to you:

When I have conflict . . .
___1. I try to to calm down before I react.
___2. I try my best to avoid physical fighting.
___3. I avoid using put-downs.
___4. I say what’s on my mind but I do it respectfully.
___5. I listen to what the other person has to say.
___6. I try to see how I’m responsible, not just blame the other person.
___7. I try to put myself in the other person’s place so I can understand where they’re coming from.
___8. I look for ways to solve the problem not just win the argument.
___9. I know there’s more to gain by working things out.
___10. I’m willing to compromise.

8-10: WOW! You’re a true conflict solver.
5-7: You’re doing really well.
1-4: You can improve. Pick one of the above to focus on each week.
